We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our mRNA-Display screening team.
As a Senior Scientist at WuXi AppTec, you will play a pivotal role in the mRNA-Display platform team, focusing on the development and integration of noncanonical amino acids. Your expertise in genetic code reprogramming and protein biochemistry will be essential to advancing our macrocyclic peptide screening capabilities and enhancing the overall performance of our mRNA-Display platform. You will be working in a dynamic and collaborative environment, both locally and internationally, to drive innovation and contribute to significant scientific advancements.

Responsibilities

• Experimental Design: Design and execute experiments to screen macrocyclic peptide libraries against diverse and challenging targets.
• Innovation Development and optimization of novel methods for genetic code reprogramming and incorporation of noncanonical amino acids, focusing on enhancing peptide diversity and functionality, and various macrocyclization strategies.
• Collaborative Research: Work closely with internal teams and external collaborators to integrate mRNA-Display data into broader research and development initiatives.
• Data Analysis: Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and contribute to the formulation of new hypotheses and experimental strategies.
• Communication: Prepare and present research findings through internal reports, peer-reviewed publications, and scientific conferences.
• Leadership: Train and support other scientists, fostering a collaborative and productive research environment.
• Global Collaboration: Engage with international teams to ensure alignment and synergy across various research efforts and platforms.

Qualifications

• Educational Background: Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in protein biochemistry with a robust focus on display technologies, such as mRNA-Display, phage display, or DNA-Encoded Library (DEL) screening.
• Publication Record: Demonstrated strong track record of publications in academic or industry settings, reflecting expertise and contributions to the field.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in mRNA-Display, genetic code reprogramming, and incorporating noncanonical amino acids into peptides.
• Bioinformatics: Experience in bioinformatics is desirable but not essential; ability to leverage computational tools for data analysis and interpretation is a plus.
• Teamwork and Independence: Proven ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
