Overview

HD Biosciences, Inc. (San Diego), a WuXi AppTec Company, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Scientist to lead our histology lab in in vivo pharmacology team for various projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with in vivo pharmacology experiments for preclinical contract research
  • Perform histology and immunohistochemistry work and other special stains, when needed.
  • Schedule studies, review protocols, data and reports
  • Establishes scientific standards and new initiatives.
  • Write and review SOPs.
  • Enter data in study management software
  • Participates in drafting quotations.
  • Develop, implement, optimize, and validate animal models in different disease areas.
  • Effectively communicate with internal colleagues and external clients to promote a world-class service.

Qualifications

Experience / Education       

  • Bachelors preferred with 0-1 years’ experience in Biology related field.
  • Experience in handling rodents/mice in in vivo pharmacology studies a plus
  • Experience in Biology Lab/ bench work experience preferred; e.g. sterile cell culture techniques, and in vitro/ex vivo immune cell-based assays in academic or industry laboratory environment. 

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills; able to work in a team-oriented environment. Effectively collaborate across cross functional teams
  • Strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in Software/websites for histology data analysis and graphing.
  • Need to be able to read, write and understand English.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to multitask across several research areas/projects.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes quickly
  • Detail-oriented
  • Excellent organization and record-keeping skills
  • High standards of scientific rigor and integrity

 

Physical Requirements:               

  • Must be able to work in an office environment with minimal noise conditions.
  • Must be able to work in a lab setting with exposure to animals/biohazards/chemicals.
  • Must not have animal allergies to applicable species in this facility.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE.
  • Must be able to work in an environment with variable noise levels.
  • Ability to stand /Sit/walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to Lift 10 lbs routinely
  • Ability to crouch, bend, twist, and reach
  • Ability to push/pull 10 lbs routinely/often/occasionally.
  • Clarity of Vision
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions
  • Ability to climb ladders/stairs/scaffolding.
  • Ability to work in variable temperatures high to freezing
  • Inside/outside working conditions

Anticipated salary range: $17.41 to $22.56
