The EHS Specialist will be responsible for maintaining and managing day-to-day health, safety, emergency response, environmental compliance and security activities. The EHS specialist will also be responsible for the overall environmental compliance for two different sites in Saint Paul, MN and Atlanta, GA and will serve as Safety and Radiation Officer. Therefore, time will be split between the two sites at approximately Saint Paul, MN (80%) and Atlanta, GA (20%) The EHS specialist will monitor and improve processes to prevent and eliminate injury and illness to employees and ensure the company complies with safety and environmental laws.
Position Details:
• Investigate accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards or uncomfortable conditions in the workplace
• Onsite audits and evaluations to identify potential health hazards from chemicals, biological substances, physical agents, and other environmental hazards
• Recommend improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment, to minimize the hazardous potential
• Leads and conducts employee training and emergency preparedness programs
• Prepares and maintains all necessary safety related compliance documents and records
• Provides strategic leadership and works with management on identified Safety, Heath & Security, issues/recommendations/opportunities/strategy to foster continuous improvement of EHS programs and culture
• Leads employee safety committees to ensure compliance to OSHA requirements, foster employee engagement and execute against the stated EHS goals and strategies
• Serves as Safety Officer and leads advocacy efforts on individual safety issues of importance to WuXi
• Responsible for all permits and reports (as it applies to environmental issues) by the Federal, State, or Cities and maintaining documentation around the same (air, water, waste) as required
• Serving as Incident Command on all spills and releases outside of normal parameters and provides expert guidance in regards to spill containment and cleanup.
• Own Spill Prevention Control and Containment Program (SPCC)
• Minimum 6 years of direct EHS experience including;
o Maintaining and managing day-to-day health, safety, emergency response, and environmental compliance activities
o Environmental, safety, emergency response and Haz-Mat
o Implementing policies and procedures that are protective of the environment, personnel, equipment, and business interests
o Evaluating, providing advice and implementing solutions due to complexities of health, safety, training and industrial hygiene issues
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or related Science discipline. Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene
• Formal OSHA and Safety Training
