HD Biosciences, a WuXi AppTec company, seeks a Director - In Vivo Pharmacology to manage team and project operations. The candidate must provide leadership, scientific, and operational support for a diversified research staff. This role requires experience and an established track record in working with multi-functional teams outside their reporting structure and presenting research strategies and results. Along with scientific strength, the successful candidate must have a proven track record of instilling teamwork and operational excellence while successfully executing against objectives. This key position will report directly to the head of the In Vivo Pharmacology Department.
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in In Vivo Pharmacology, providing in-depth technical expertise and guidance on the design and interpretation of preclinical studies, especially in drug discovery and disease model development
• Provide scientific leadership by proactively advising, sharing knowledge, and expert opinions across functions and with senior management
• Use SME experience to anticipate scientific barriers and proactively develop strategies to ensure successful drug evaluation
• Provide technical mentorship and training to staff, ensuring that the latest scientific methodologies are applied in research activities
• Collaborate with other departments to integrate SME insights into research, ensuring the highest level of scientific rigor and innovation
• Participate in drafting quotations, ensuring the inclusion of expert-driven methodologies and accurate project scope
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely execution and communication of research results with high-quality standards
• Interface with pharma partners, academic collaborators, and partner CROs
• Work with the Business Development (BD) team to support marketing efforts, including the creation of materials, presentations, and client-facing documents to showcase the company's capabilities in In Vivo Pharmacology
• Can work in a team environment and independently as required
•Provide operational support to ensure department goals are achieved
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, Wuxi AppTec policies, and SOPs
• May be required to work on weekends or assist in other departments as needed
•PhD with training in oncology, metabolic disease, immune/autoimmune, or a highly related field, and at least 10 years of related academic or industry work experience.
• 5 years of experience in managing scientists and technicians and leading team research activities
• Proven experience as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in In Vivo Pharmacology with a demonstrated ability to provide expert-level input and guidance on preclinical study design, execution, and interpretation
• AALAC certification and/or prior experience with IACUC standards is highly desirable
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
• Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills. Listens and understands other points of view; ability to effectively articulate vision and persuade key stakeholders across the organization
• Ability to be able to read, write, and understand English and Mandarin
• Ability to travel for business as required
• Expertise in In Vivo Pharmacology, with deep experience in preclinical model development and drug discovery processes
• Ability to apply SME-level knowledge to solve complex scientific challenges, ensuring that research strategies are scientifically sound and aligned with the company's objectives
• Experience working closely with the Business Development (BD) team to develop marketing materials and support proposal writing, leveraging technical expertise to align with client needs and business goals
Anticipated salary range: $121,924 to $170,462
