The Director of New Modality Research will lead the development and execution of innovative strategies to discover and advance new therapeutic modalities. This role is critical to driving scientific excellence and fostering cross-functional collaboration to achieve goals.

WuXi Biology’s Boston Site is strategically located in the heart of the Greater Boston area, recognized as the global epicenter of biotech innovation and venture investment. The Boston site serve as a key hub to demonstrate our global scientific capabilities to prominent US-based biotech companies.

• To lead the development of new modality DEL including solid phase DEL, peptide DEL, etc.
• Participate in technical discussion and development in cross-function teams including display, DEL, and others.
• To work as a team with colleagues across various functions (at department, division, and company levels) in client service and capability buildup.
• Effectively communicate and interface with business partners, develop and maintain excellent business relationships with internal and external clients.
• Anticipates scientific barriers, and proactively develops strategies to ensure successful drug evaluation.
• Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals.
• Performs job-specific tasks in compliance with applicable regulations, international standards, WuXi AppTec policies, and standard operating procedures.
• May be required to assist in other departments.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:  

• PhD in organic chemistry-related profession, with more than 5 years of relevant post-doctoral experience.
• Hands-on experience with DEL construction, peptide synthesis, solid phase chemistry, etc.
• 2 or more years of industry experience in a related subject
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Experience in large CRO companies preferred
• Demonstrated communication skills in both English and Chinese a plus.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills. Listens and understands other points of view; ability to effectively articulate vision and persuade key stakeholders across the organization.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English and Mandarin.
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to travel for business as required.

Physical Requirements:                    

• Must be able to work in an office environment with minimal noise conditions.
• Must be able to work in Lab setting with exposure to Animals/biohazards / Chemicals
• Must not have animal allergies to applicable species in this facility
• Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
• Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels
• Ability to stand /sit/walk for long periods of time
• Ability to Lift 10 lbs. routinely
