We offer our clients comprehensive service platforms around target validation, plate-based pharmacology, hit identification and lead discovery, in vivo pharmacology, and other research and development services.

 

The Principal Scientist should have deep and broad expertise in immunology and cell biology. He/she will provide scientific services and solutions to our customers’ drug discovery research needs at the San Diego site.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and executes a variety of scientific projects to ensure successful execution and data quality.
  • Builds and grows a high-performance in vitro Biology team and provide effective mentorship.
  • Assists management in the delivery of financial and productivity goals.
  • Provides scientific direction and strategy to identify and implement emerging key technologies to expand service capabilities and fulfill customer needs in cutting-edge drug discoveries.
  • Coordinates efforts and facilitates communication to ensure alignment between different units and our customers.
  • Provides support and participates in business development activities to promote services and engage new customers.
  • Ensures operation compliance of EHS rules and government regulations for all members of the in vitro Biology team
  • Perform job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, and WuXi AppTec Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • May be required to assist in other departments.

Qualifications

Experience / Education       

  • Ph.D in Molecular biology, Cell biology or related field with 8+ years of Biotech/Pharmaceutical/CRO working experience.
  • Experience with managing teams and projects.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Demonstrated broad expertise in immunology and cell biology.
  • Expertise with cellular models, such as human PBMC and whole blood, and hands-on experience in T cell, B cell biology; autoimmune, inflammatory disease, and immune-oncology research.
  • Multiparameter flow cytometry experience is a must
  • Experience with managing team(s), including junior scientists and research associates.  
  • Strong communication skills with collaborators and clients, and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to work effectively in team settings and build collaborative relationships with customers, management, and peers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices.

 

Anticipated base pay range: $124,806 to $162,366
