HD Biosciences Inc., a WuXi AppTec company, offers biology-focused preclinical drug discovery services to biotech and pharmaceuticals. We offer our clients comprehensive service platforms around target validation, plate-based pharmacology, hit identification and lead discovery, in vivo pharmacology, as well as other research and development services.
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled scientist to support our neuroscience platforms to find cures for the neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory diseases. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing advanced vitro assays using human iPSC-derived neuronal cells, primary neuronal cells, co-culture systems, and other cellular models to support drug discovery and translational neuroscience programs. This role requires strong hands-on expertise in cellular neuroscience, excellent assay development skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Design, optimize, and execute in vitro neuroscience assays using iPSC-derived neurons, astrocytes, primary neuronal cells, and other relevant CNS cell types.
• Establish and characterize co-culture models (e.g., neuron-microglia, neuron-astrocyte, or other systems).
• Support projects with relevant functional readouts (neurite outgrowth, neuronal survival, high-content imaging, etc.).
• Perform molecular and cellular analyses (qPCR, Flow cytometry, ELISA, imaging, etc.).
• Lead and support non-neuroscience programs as needed.
• Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely, accurate, and reproducible data delivery.
• Prepare clear data summaries, technical reports, and presentations for internal teams and external communications.
Experience / Education
• Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Stem Cell Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field with 4-6 years of postdoctoral or industry research experience.
• Strong knowledge of neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory diseases, including relevant cellular and molecular mechanisms.
• Extensive hands-on expertise with iPSC-derived neuronal culture systems and advanced cellular neuroscience models.
• Demonstrated experience developing and applying co-culture assays and functional neuronal readouts (e.g., neurite outgrowth, synaptic activity, survival assays).
• Familiarity with organoid or 3D culture systems is a strong plus.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects effectively, with strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
