Overview

To work as the Senior Network Administrator this person is a highly experienced IT professional who manages and maintains an organization's networks and network security systems, ensuring they operate efficiently, securely, and reliably.
This role involves a broad range of responsibilities, with a main focus in network infrastructure management. This role comes with the ability to learn Enterprise infrastructure application and server administration, security design, implementation. This role is to support the IT processes to ensure the stable operation of IT Infrastructure for WuXi AppTec sites located in the US (Delaware) and assist with European operations.


This is a hybrid position that will be a minimum of 2 days on site (Middletown, DE). This can be higher in some weeks due to projects.

Responsibilities

Responsible for back end Corporate Manufacturing Infrastructure, including:

  • Network Security solutions including Firewalls (Cisco, Fortigate), Network Access Control (Cisco ISE), IPS/IDS, DNS
  • Layer 2 / Layer 3 Networking
    • Switches, routers, Wireless Controllers (Cisco, Juniper)
  • Corporate Networking Connectivity including Internet, Ethernet Network Service (MPSL\EPL) and Site to Site VPN’s, SD-WAN, Using BGP, OSPF and other routing protocols.
    • Design, implement, and manage complex network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, and VPN connections.
    • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and security.
    • Configure and maintain network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Develop and enforce network security protocols and practices.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to plan and execute network upgrades and expansions. (Cisco DNA)
  • Perform regular network security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Document network architecture, configurations, and updates for troubleshooting and future reference.
  • Assist in disaster recovery planning and implement procedures to ensure network resilience.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required
  • Normally receives minimal instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.
  • Maybe required to work Holidays and weekends
  • Be on call and available after business hours
  • Establish and maintain pertinent policies, standards, and procedures
  • Perform duties in compliance with applicable regulations and standards such as Sarbanes Oxley Act, FDA Quality System, and ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Works on routine assignments per written procedures, where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.
  • Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals
  • Perform job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, and WuXi AppTec Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Experience / Education

  • 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent work experience
  • Preferred CCNA, CCNP certifications

 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • 4 years of experience with supporting back end infrastructure technology; must have working knowledge of how to configure, secure, and troubleshooting
  • Firewalls (Cisco FTD Firewalls / FortiGate) - NAT and Firewall access rules
  • Network Connectivity - WAN (includes troubleshooting managed services routing)
  • Network Connectivity - LAN (SD-WAN, Routing protocols OSPF, BGP )
  • Cisco Layer 2/3 Devices
  • Cisco Switch configuration, VLANs, Spanning Tree, VRFs, port/group channels
  • Windows Server Administration Experience 2016/2022
  • VMware Administration of Host, Guest, Storage, networking (including iSCSI) and VMWare Apps
  • Active Directory (Sites and Services, ADFS)
  • Willingness to perform excellent customer service
  • Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Travel may be required up to 15% to other sites located in US & Europe for projects.
