Overview

The Senior Policy Analyst strengthens WuXi AppTec’s Government Relations (GR) capabilities in Europe by providing high-quality policy intelligence, strategic analysis, and stakeholder engagement support. The role enables the company to anticipate and manage geopolitical, regulatory, and policy risks while advancing its licence to operate and long-term European strategy.

Responsibilities

Strategic Intelligence & Policy Analysis

  • Conduct continuous monitoring of EU and national regulatory and policy developments relevant to WuXi AppTec’s operations.
  • Produce analytical reports, briefings, flash alerts, and horizon scans to support timely decision-making by senior leadership.
  • Assess potential business and operational impacts across industrial policy, trade & investment, health, R&D, supply chain security, and geopolitical dynamics.
  • Contribute to scenario planning, risk assessments, and long-term regulatory forecasts.

Stakeholder Engagement & Network Development

  • Support GR leadership in building and maintaining relationships with EU institutions, permanent representations, ministries, industry associations, think tanks, and key opinion leaders.
  • Represent WuXi AppTec in selected meetings, events, and working groups.
  • Maintain an updated stakeholder map and engagement plan

Narrative, Messaging & Policy Materials

  • Draft policy positions, talking points, briefing notes, presentations, and strategic communication materials.
  • Ensure alignment of policy messages with corporate strategy and coordinate with PR/Communications where relevant.
  • Support preparation of senior executives for institutional engagements.

Internal Coordination & Project Support

  • Collaborate with Business Units (BUs), Operational Units (OUs), and supporting functions (Legal, Compliance, PR, Regulatory) to analyse regulatory impacts.
  • Contribute to strategic projects including the risk radar, and investment-related assessments.
  • Facilitate structured information flows across regional and global teams.

Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in Public Policy, European Studies, International Relations, Law, Economics, or related discipline.

Professional Experience

  • 4–8 years in EU public policy, government relations, public affairs, political risk, or regulatory analysis.
  • Experience engaging with EU institutions and/or national governments.
  • Exposure to life sciences, industrial strategy, and supply chain policy is an advantage.

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong analytical capability with proven ability to synthesise complex information.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; additional languages preferred.
  • Ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with standard office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word); experience with policy databases and monitoring tools is a plus.
