STA Pharmaceutical Switzerland is part of WuXi AppTec. The site is located in Couvet, canton Neuchatel and manufactures oral drug products for global markets. We are expanding our capabilities and building a brand new Spray Drying facility, and our first Spray Dryer has just been delivered. 

We are hence looking for an experienced EHS professional to support our existing Oral Drug Product, and new Spray Dry Dispersion processes.

 

Under the responsibility of the site EHS Manager, the EHS Specialist is involved in assisting with the implementation of site programs to promote EHS culture, to mitigate industrial risks with a special focus on ATEX and to support the continuous improvement approach of the site.

 

He / She will support and contribute to the development and maintenance of the site EHS Management System and the site regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Support compliance for the site EHS Management System according to ISO 14001 & ISO 45001
  • Participate in the identification of specific EHS hazards and assess the related risks
  • Provide expertise on ATEX topics
  • Facilitate or conduct the analysis of incidents, including first aid and near misses, and the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Manage EHS documentation in the documentary system
  • Effectively provide and/or coordinate education/training at the facility necessary to recognize, evaluate and control workplace EHS hazards
  • Develops, implements, maintains, and facilitates training programs in relation to environmental health and safety.
  • Manage and perform EHS audits, define follow up actions and monitor the program.
  • Maintain the emergency organizations and manage the human and material resources of these organizations.
  • Maintain expertise on current EHS issues through ongoing literature and attendance at relevant seminars and meetings

Qualifications

Experience / Education

  • High School engineering diploma or technical background, preferably in Environmental sciences, chemical or electrical engineering.
  • Minimum of five 5 years in EHS management with relevant industry experience
  • ST/PS specialist, ST/PS expert or equivalent preferred (already certified or willing to)

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Good knowledge of Swiss legal requirements and local Ordinances
  • Experience in ATEX zoning and equipment
  • Experience in waste and wastewater management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, highly effective written and verbal communication skills, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Autonomous, with ability to work independently
  • High comfort level in using MS Office suite
  • Must have high analytical aptitude and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Willing to develop EHS relations and best practices within / outside the company
  • Fluent in French and English
