Overview

Associate Scientist I is responsible to conduct routine in vitro ADME assays in compliance with applicable methods, including but not limited to weighing the chemical, preparing the solutions, performing assays, and generating the data reports

in support of discovery and development programs in the DMPK. 

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine in vitro ADME assays, laboratory techniques and procedures under supervision.
  • Receive specific instructions on assigned tasks and expected results.
  • Deliver accurate results on assigned tasks within the expected timeframe.
  • Follow ADME assay acceptance criteria.
  • Understand the study and method, assist in troubleshooting of unexpected results.
  • Maintain research notebooks in a well-organized manner.  All necessary documentation is recorded.
  • Prepare various types of solutions used in the laboratory.
  • Perform routine calculations; tabulates, and records results.
  • Prepare accurate routine data summary under supervision.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and support necessary laboratory supply.
  • Comply with SOPs, guidelines and good housekeeping policies.
  • Learn and enhance technical knowledge of in vitro ADME assays, such as stability, CYP inhibition/induction and transporter, etc, as well as technical knowledge of DMPK including ADME, PK, Metabolism, and bioanalysis.
  • Follow company’s policies including safety policies, practices and procedures in order to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Position includes weekend hours when necessary and extended hours when project requires.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience / Education:  

  • Bachelor's in Chemistry, Biology, or related science degree, with 0-3 years or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • Associate’s degree with 2-3 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Has a basic understanding of scientific discipline.
  • Ability to perform preliminary lab work with supervision after training.
  • Ability to follow instructions to perform required procedures.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within drug discovery and development R&D laboratory settings.
  • Well organized, detail oriented, and adaptable to changes.
  • Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills: knowledge of internet research, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Good time management skill to perform multiple projects within timelines.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Follow and adhere to non-GLP guidelines/SOPs consistent with WuXi AppTec requirement.
