Overview

The Toxicologist is responsible for providing toxicological expertise in support of chemical characterization studies. This individual will research toxicological data, and write risk assessments as well as provide consulting. This position requires scientific and technical expertise, and attention to detail.   

Responsibilities

  • Provide toxicological risk assessments and consulting services to clients, including written reports, summary reports and opinion papers.  
  • Demonstrate efficient and organized project management skills, effective communication skills, strategic and critical thinking as well as problem solving abilities.
  • Provide good customer service to both internal and external clients.
  • Joins, participates, and maintains memberships in key regulatory bodies and professional societies.
  • Participate in relevant trade show meetings to provide technical support to clients and prospective clients.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the medical device field, testing and regulations.
  • Manage and control several customized projects simultaneously. Ability to thrive in a fast paces, multitasking environment, and show leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently, as required.
  • Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals.
  • Perform job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, and WuXi AppTec Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
  • May be required to assist in other departments.

Qualifications

Experience / Education       

  • 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent
  • PhD or MSc in toxicology, pharmacology, chemistry, biological sciences, or related field, or equivalent experience (e.g., Bachelor’s in biological sciences plus 5 or more years of relevant experience, including experience with writing toxicological risk assessments or biological evaluations for the medical device, pharmaceutical, or chemical industries)
  • Experience with CRO, medical device and/or pharmaceutical & Biotech industries
  • Basic toxicology and risk assessment experience 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills
  • Need to be able to read, write and understand English
  • Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • High Attention to detail
  • Customer focus
  • Efficient and organized project management skills
  • Strategic and critical thinking as well as problem solving abilities.
  • Travel is required 10% , Domestic/International, Daily/Overnight

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in an office environment with minimal noise conditions.
  • Ability to Sit for long periods of time
  • Clarity of Sight
  • Inside working conditions
