Laboratory Technician - Technical Development

Overview

Performs assays according to and in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and/or Points to Consider (PTC) guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).  Completes batch records and other required documentation and performs laboratory maintenance duties according to GLP, cGMP, CFR and/or PTC guidelines and SOPs.  Performs daily work activities with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts and directs assays and lab procedures according to and in compliance with cGMP, CFR and/or PTC guidelines and SOPs.
  • Accurately completes test methods and other required documentation according to and in compliance with cGMP, CFR and/or PTC guidelines and SOPs.
  • Performs assays using appropriate laboratory techniques.
  • Reports observations of ongoing tests to Study Director or Laboratory Manager.
  • Communicates with supervisor and other colleagues regarding daily lab activities.
  • Performs daily work activities with minimal supervision.
  • Prepares reagents and completes reagent batch records.
  • Maintain the laboratory on a daily basis (including stocking the lab, ordering reagents and supplies, checking for expired reagents, performing CO2 checks and other required tasks) and keeps records according to guidelines and SOPs.
  • Partner with Metrology to ensure equipment is within calibration and appropriate working order.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in parallel.
  • Ability to interpret results and quickly learn new laboratory skills.
  • Ability to write new batch records and modify existing methods as directed by supervisor or other senior staff.
  • Ability to work as a member of a diverse multi-disciplinary team and to present lab activities and/or data during lab meeting every week. 
  • Perform viral titration, viral neutralization, cell-based potency assays, and other cell-based methods as needed.
  • Perform assays in the BSL-3 or BSL-2+, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, organization and record-keeping skills is required.
  • Mammalian cell culture experience is required.
  • Experience handling virus is highly desired.
  • Experience with qPCR and/or ELISAs is a plus.
