Overview

Executes and delivers key strategic projects, which increase the capability and capacity of WuXi AppTec Manufacturing and Testing Operations. Applies engineering skills for sterile drug manufacturing for all aspects of project delivery from feasibility through manufacturing start up and hand over to the end users. Aligns the requirements of other functional groups such as EHS, QA, Manufacturing, Testing, Facilities/ Metrology for overall project delivery. Directly responsible for tracking project cost, schedule, targets and achievements.

Responsibilities

Manage multiple small to medium capital and renovation projects from conceptual through detailed design, commissioning and qualification of pharmaceutical, process development & manufacturing facilities.

  • Manage outside engineering consultants, construction managers and contractors.
  • Applies sound engineering and project management principles in the procedural delivery of said project.
  • Support end users define User Requirements, establish project Design Basis.
  • Interface with client representatives and other functional groups such as EHS, QA, Manufacturing, Testing, Facilities/Metrology, etc. to manage and coordinate the development of design deliverables.
  • Review and approve design documentation including engineering calculations, specification and drawings for HVAC, process piping, clean and plant utilities piping and normal power/emergency power and UPS.
  • Manage construction activities, equipment/system start up and commissioning.
  • Review and approve commissioning and qualification protocols.
  • Provide qualification and troubleshooting support for equipment and utility systems.
  • Independently manage technical, engineering and code compliance matter on the project delivery, making decision on engineering problems and methods.
  • Review and update all GMP and Regulatory drawings for the Philadelphia site.
  • Provides engineering support to other departments
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required 

Qualifications

Experience / Education      

  • 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent
  • Bachelors’ degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. Masters’ and PE preferred or equivalent experience 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and MS Project
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD preferred

 

Physical Requirements:            

  • Must be able to work in an open office environment.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
  • Must be able to crawl in interstial spaces.
  • Ability to climb Ladders / Stairs / Scaffolding
