Overview

Collaborate with Finance, Testing and Manufacturing Operations, Legal, and the Business Development team to prepare high quality client proposals and other documents detailing the service offering and obligations of WuXi AppTec.   This responsibility consists of  preparing the text and budgets, including project pricing and timelines for proposals, work orders, change orders, requests for information (RFI’s), re-bids, and related documents (collectively, Documents) for senior management approval.  Manages the Document development process, sourcing applicable content from Testing, Operations, Finance, Business Development and Sr. Management and ensures consistency, quality and timeliness of all submissions to clients, both internal and external. Track and develop turnaround time reporting, contract win-loss metrics, and finance and contracts integration with business operations improvement initiatives. Review contract terms and conditions, invoicing terms, and financial obligations to ensure full and proper billing and revenue recognition.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the preparation, review, and finalization of client proposals and other related documents; ensuring consistency in approach, metrics and format. Engage internal stakeholders across multiple business units to gather the inputs for each such Document.
  • Develops and maintains working relationships with internal stakeholders and business units to better respond to client specific requirements as related to Documents. Review RFP requirements with operations to ensure all requirements are reflected in the applicable Document. Oversee the finalization of Documents and distributions to internal departments for final review and official submission to client.
  • Create, review, maintain and revise as required, proposal and other Document templates and turnaround time and win-loss metrics. Drive consistency, efficiency and identification of best practices in the development of proposals and other Documents. Identify and drive continuous process improvement to the proposal and other Document development processes. Manage proposal status update meetings and information dissemination.
  • Understand the processes that go into WuXi AppTec’s GMP manufacturing services for advanced gene and cellular therapeutics, to ensure each Document is accurate and consistent in approach and format. Works closely with operations to develop cost estimate inputs for new services and modifications to existing services.
  • Review contract terms and conditions, invoicing terms, and financial obligations to ensure full and proper billing and revenue recognition. Review contract terms relative to company standard templates and interact with the corporate attorney and internal management to reduce or eliminate Company’s risk / financial exposure.
  • Work with Finance to review any changes or modifications to items within the proposal that may need revised costing to increase competitiveness and win client contracts.
  • Other duties as required by management.

Qualifications

Education / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline (Finance, Business Management, Life Sciences or other related fields) preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years direct experience in proposal development, working with and managing proposal activities or 5 years, sales management/business development, or other comparable combination of education, training and experience.

 

Experience / Skills

  • Prior experience with either a pharmaceutical company or contract service organizations.
  • Pre-clinical development, CMC, and cell and gene therapies experience is a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in a way that others can readily follow.
  • Versatility with financial, scientific, and legal terminology.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and the ability to meet strict timelines.
  • Possess the skills to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to self-prioritize work on an ongoing basis.
