Xenobiotic Laboratories (XBL), a subsidiary of the Lab Testing Division of WuXi AppTec, Inc., is a leading contract research laboratory specializing in small and large molecule Bioanalytical, drug metabolism, and pharmacokinetic services to the pharmaceutical, animal health and agrochemical industries. Xenobiotic Laboratories is seeking a Associate Scientist III in Plainsboro, NJ.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform more difficult procedures without supervision.
  • Suggest/recommend different approaches to improve the efficiency of the analytical procedures
  • Delivers accurate results on assigned task and expected results.
  • May assume the duty of a trainer to new hires.
  • Thorough understanding of the study and method, trouble shoot unexpected results.
  • Maintains research notebooks in a well-organized manner. All necessary documentation is recorded.
  • Complies with all safety rules, practices good housekeeping, and maintains safe workplace without supervision.
  • Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and EPA, FDA, or other regulation pertaining to the study.
  • Perform routine calculations. tabulates, and records results.
  • Prepares standard solutions used in the laboratory.
  • Maintains and calibrates laboratory equipment.
  • Assumes responsibility for technical accuracy of work.
  • Learns, and enhances technical knowledge of bioanalytical assays.
  • Assume the responsibility of the GLP compliance in a designated laboratory.(primary or a back up)
  • Enhance the knowledge of the Laboratory information Management System (LIMS--WATSON) to help in the preparationof the work list and plate map generated from WATSON.
  • Participate in the Bioanalytical all staff meetings in the review/presentation related to compliance issues in the designate laboratory and recommend a corrective actions.
  • Participate in writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and suggest practical changes.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Experience / Training / Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or a related discipline
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent
  • Any similar combination of education and experience

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Ability to follow instruction to perform required procedures and change direction on a short notice
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks with efficient approach to complete the work on time with high accuracy.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within biological or chemical R&D laboratory setting
  • Well organized, detail oriented, and adaptable to changes
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills: knowledge of internet research, MS Word, Excel, Outlook,PowerPoint and WATSON (generating worklist and plate map)
  • Good time management skill in order to perform of multiple projects within deadlines
  • Ability to effectively prioritize workload and manage changes in direction
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Familiarity with and adherence to regulatory guidelines consistent with XBL requirements
