    Xenobiotic Laboratories (XBL), a subsidiary of the Lab Testing Division of WuXi AppTec, Inc., is a leading contract research laboratory specializing in small molecule bioanalytical, drug metabolism, and pharmacokinetic services to the pharmaceutical, animal health and agrochemical industries.  XBL is seeking an Staff Scientist II (LC-MS/MS) for their Bioanalytical Department (Small Molecule) located in Plainsboro, NJ. 


    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for performing highly complex scientific analyses by operating LC/MS/MS instruments for quantitative drug analyses and data review.
    • Reviews LC/MS/MS data and processing of data integration prior to release to the PI/SD.
    • Assumes responsibility for technical accuracy of work and, when applicable, for the logic of the interpretation.
    • Proficiency with different liquid chromatographic techniques, separation strategies, analytical method validation and sample analysis.
    • Willingness to work and learn in a fast paced environment with state of the art facilities, for pharmaceutical, environmental and related chemical discipline research
    • Familiarity with Analyst, MassLynx, Watson LIMS and other Windows based software.
    • Self-driven individual capable of setting, conducting and documenting experiments: record keeping in compliance with laboratory policies.
    • Works with LC/MS engineers to performs general equipment maintenance, as required.
    • Responsible ensuring monthly calibrations on the instruments are completed.
    • Lab Supervisor for mass spectrometer labs.
    • Primary scientist responsible for biomarker assays analysis.
    • Works with method development team to ensure challenging assays will pass validation
    • Prepares reports, oral and written, covering work objects, methods and results, which may include recommendations for further experimentation.
    • Promotes implementation and compliance with XBL safety policies, practices, and procedures in order to maintain a safe work environment and minimize or eliminate injury.
    • Assists in the training for subordinates and/or less experienced staff.
    • Maintains and enhances technical expertise and knowledge of bioanalytical/or pharmaceutical areas, as appropriate.
    • May contribute as backup PI.
    • Plans and carries out experiments with associated research assignments.  Able to set up the study using the proper technique/software to carry the experimental phase to completion. 
    • Compiles, calculates, plots, and analyzes, and with experience, interprets data; records and maintains data in accordance with accepted standards and practices.
    • Be a lead in the implement of new LC/MS instrumentation and applications
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Experience / Training / Education:

    • Bachelor degree in a Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Biological discipline or equivalent
    • 4-6 years of relevant experience, or equivalent, is desirable.
    • Any similar combination of education and experience


    Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

    • Basic knowledge of commonly used scientific concepts, practices and procedures within chemical R&D laboratory setting.
    • Advance knowledge of LC-MS principles and operation.
    • Knowledge of Data Acquisitions and Operating Software as Analyst, MassLynx….
    • Highly motivated with excellent communication and organizational skills
    • Well-organized, detail-oriented and adaptable to change
    • Effective oral and written communication skills
    • Effective interpersonal skills
    • Computer skills: internet search, MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint are desirable
    • Ability to learn quickly and effectively in a dynamic laboratory environment
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    • Ability to understand and adhere to regulatory guidelines consistent with WuXi requirements
