  • Overview

    This position will perform a variety of routine metal and elemental analysis. The position may also include performing a variety of sample reparations/extractions/leaching and standards and reagent preparation, as needed.

     

    Please note that the work schedule for this opening is:  Tuesday - Saturday (days)

    Responsibilities

    • Primarily perform routine sample metal and elemental samples preparation and analysis using the assigned instrument (e.g. ICP-MS, ICP-OES, and GFAA)
    • Perform routine and non-routine analysis on non-complex instruments (light obscuration particle counter, FTIR, etc), as needed, with little assistance from Scientist levels.
    • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on instruments with little to no assistance.
    • May be a system owner on instruments.
    • Handles data and prepares spreadsheets, results summaries and drafts reports.
    • Ensures testing of client samples and reporting of results is accomplished in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Keep laboratory area clean and well organized.
    • Works under close supervision from supervisor or senior personnel.
    • Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required.
    • May be required to work Holidays and weekends.
    • May be required to work overtime. 
    • Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals.
    • Perform job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, and WuXi AppTec Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices.
    • May be required to assist in other departments
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Experience / Education

    • Minimum 2+ years of relevant lab experience
    • Has demonstrated consistent performance on applicable instruments
    • GLP/GMP experience
    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

    Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

    • Ability to perform moderate to complex mathematical calculations
    • Proven to be self-motivated and has strong initiative skills
    • Detail oriented and independently driven
    • Has strong documentation skills
    • Has demonstrated strong troubleshooting skills
    • Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills
    • Need to be able to read, write and understand English
    • GC-MS, LC-MS, or ICP-MS experience
    • Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to work in a Lab setting with exposure to biohazards/chemicals
    • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
    • Must be able to work in environment with minimal noise levels
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time
    • Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions
    • Ability to crouch, bend, twist and reach
    • Inside working conditions
