  • Overview

    This position has overall leadership responsibility for the P & L performance of all U.S. Medical Device Testing operations including St. Paul, Minnesota; Atlanta, Georgia; and other potential future operations.  This position will based in St. Paul, Minnesota.

    • Shapes Operations strategy and tactics to ensure profitable growth and achievement of margin targets.
    • Partners with Medical Device Sales & Marketing to influences strategy and decisions in order to achieve revenue targets, optimize capacity and ensure positive client experiences.
    • As a core member of the Global LTD Medical Device leadership team actively participates in the creation of division business strategy including annual planning, long-term planning and client engagement activities.
    • Shapes and develops a customer-centric business culture that focuses on quality, high performance and a sense of urgency.
    • This position reports to the General Manager of Global Medical Device Testing.

    Responsibilities

    • Accountable for achievement of profit and margin targets by optimizing capacity and efficiency. Responsible for overall capacity improvements.
    • Leads the establishment of key performance metrics to measure Operations effectiveness, efficiency and customer/client satisfaction. Use metrics to adjust operations, budgets, etc. as needed to meet business and market demands.
    • Ensures achievement of revenue targets by being an active business partner with marketing and sales to develop new services, new marketing strategies and by influencing pricing and pricing strategy.
    • Assists in business development and sales enablement initiatives by providing Subject Matter Expertise from operations throughout the sales cycle.
    • Accountable for overall quality. Partners with Division QA and site QA to ensure Operations meets the quality standards of WuXi, customers and regulatory bodies.
    • Leads the annual plan and budgeting process, including capital expenditures, headcount capacity and vendor/external services expense.
    • Leads organizational and leadership development efforts to ensure the business is prepared for growth and change. Responsible for overall talent leadership including succession planning.  Ensures Operations leadership makes talent and people a priority and key component of success.

    Qualifications

    • A minimum of 15 years of business experience with the majority of that experience in Operations roles.
    • At least 5 years of experience leading an operation with at least $50mm in revenue and a record of growing both revenue and profitability.
    • Previous experience leading a multi-site operation in a global organization is preferred.
    • Bachelor’s degree in a Life Science discipline or related field. An advanced degree is preferred, and an MBA is highly desired.  In lieu of a degree, at least 20 years of business experience is required, with a career progression that clearly indicates ever-increasing responsibility and substantiated success and high performance.
    • Operational leadership experience in a CRO / CMO business or related business; i.e. Medical Device or Laboratory Services with a history of demonstrated success is required.
    • Demonstrated business acumen with a keen understanding of how Operations, Finance and Sales organizations interact to grow a successful business.
    • Demonstrated success as a leader in a high-growth environment. Able to set forth a vision of excellence and reliability, with the ability to communicate that vision across all levels of the organization.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in fiscal management, budget development, risk identification and mitigation, change management, people leadership, customer interaction and internal and external communication. 
    • Proficient with Microsoft professional applications.
