    Xenobiotic Laboratories (XBL), a subsidiary of the Lab Testing Division of WuXi AppTec, Inc., is a leading contract research laboratory specializing in small molecule bioanalytical, drug metabolism, and pharmacokinetic services to the pharmaceutical, animal health and agrochemical industries.  XBL is seeking an IT Manager  for their IT Department located in Plainsboro, NJ. 


    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Ensures the smooth operation of XBL’s IT systems.
    • Ensures all Internal customers needs are met in a timely and satisfactory manner.
    • Management of Information Technology Staff:
    • Provides a structured environment with clear priorities and directives conducive to a highly effective, efficient, and responsive team with a customer centric approach.
    • Provides IT Staff with opportunities for learning and career growth within a cross training framework.
    • Handle project management, work assignments, and scheduling of staff.
    • Overall responsibility for the strategic planning and management of XBL Information Technology Programs aligned with Management objectives. The Programs are continually assessed and any changes, including acquisitions, presented to Management.
    • Asset Management Program: IT Assets, Software, Scientific Assets
    • Disaster Recovery Program: overall management and upkeep of the DR Program including disaster response and remediation (coordinate with response teams, other departments, and outside contacts), IT Disaster Recovery Plan (within the Business Continuity Plan), and disaster recovery testing (including data, systems, power management, and servers).
    • Network and Data Security Program: includes the management (health, security, remediation, upgrades, etc) of XBL’s networks, systems, servers, and data.
    • Ensure the security, confidentiality, and integrity of data including backups, data verification/testing, auditing, and archiving/restoration.
    • Includes the oversight of regular security audits and vulnerability scans (according to SANS Top-20).
    • Ensures the continued development of the program to meet XBL’s dynamic business and technical requirements and challenges.
    • Informs and provides training to both management and staff regarding emerging security threats, restrictions, and requirements.
    • Includes the management, implementation, and update of technologies used in the program such as active directory, group policy, firewalls, antivirus, email security, etc. The technologies are continually assessed for effectiveness and new technology reviewed with Management and implemented.
    • Includes the management of key physical systems including Building Access Control and Environmental Monitoring.
    • Validation and Change Management Program: validation, implementation, change control, and retirement of systems to ensure the security and validated state of the system are maintained. It includes a formalized incident response system.
    • PC/Server Maintenance and Support: including regular maintenance of workstations, servers, and virtual machines, patch management, assessment/acquisition/deployment of new software and hardware, oversight of helpdesk support, and staff training.
    • Serves as the primary contact and representative of XBL’s Information Technology Department for external organizations including Vendors, Sponsors, and Government Agencies (including the FDA and EPA).
    • Responsible for providing technical information (written and verbal) as requested, including audit review/assessment/remediation, questionnaires, inquiries, reports, requests for information, proposals, and assessments.
    • Responsible for facility tours and audits of IT areas and systems.
    • Responsible for purchase and maintenance of IT related contracts, including negotiations of contract terms (including costs) for both initial and renewal periods. Also verifies deliverables prior to processing of payments.
    • Overall responsibility for any vendor purchasing/procurement from the department.
    • Work with scientific staff to analyze and streamline processes including new programming or modifications to existing programming.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Experience / Training / Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Sciences, Engineering, or equivalent
    • GxP, FISMA, and 21CFR Part 11 experience highly desirable
    • 5-7 years relevant experience, or equivalent
    • Advanced training and familiarity with specialized software and servers highly desirable
    • Specialized computer/server skills and certifications are desirable
    • Any similar combination of education and experience

    • Ability to effectively anticipate company needs, prioritize workload, and manage changes in direction
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    • Familiarity with and adherence to regulatory guidelines consistent with XBL requirements
    • Ability to understand programming concepts and tools to analyze scientific business requirements.
