    Xenobiotic Laboratories (XBL), a subsidiary of the Lab Testing Division of WuXi AppTec, Inc., is a leading contract research laboratory specializing in small molecule bioanalytical, drug metabolism, and pharmacokinetic services to the pharmaceutical, animal health and agrochemical industries.  XBL is seeking an ASsociate Scientist II- Watson Specialist  for their  Bioanalytical Small Molecule Department located in Plainsboro, NJ. 

    Responsibilities

     

    Job Summary: This position will be responsible for assisting implementation and working with SRO to enter sample information from clients into Watson 7.5. This position will also be responsible for periodic review of the systems, training of users, and SOP creation/revisions.

     

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Assist in inputting Small Molecule and Large Molecule sample runs into the Watson LIMS system with updated sample information and status in workflow for Company internally-analyzed samples
    • Establish/maintain user requirements for electronic submission of Samples into software systems and support laboratory information system (Watson LIMS)
    • Opportunity to develop improvements in implementation of laboratory sample management
    • Assist in the Validation and maintenance of systems using GLP guidelines.
    • Assist in maintaining the validated state of scientific software applications and computer systems (e.g. LIMS, chromatography data system, etc.) via the change control process.
    • Assist in training and/or ensure effective knowledge transfer to those responsible for training.
    • Partner with other technical staff to plan, fix and implement spread sheets for Sample handling.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of process and systems improvements.
    • Ensure adherence to pertinent regulatory requirements [ FDA and EMEA guidelines] and to departmental policies, practices and procedures [SOPs, safety procedures and biosafety protocols].
    • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
    • Coordinate shipping of laboratory samples for analysis based on communications with Company internal scientists and external partners.
    • Timely identification of discrepancies in sample information between Company, central lab, biobank, and clinical sites
    • Maintain Watson LIMS system with updated sample information and status in workflow for Company internally-analyzed samples
    • Opportunity to develop improvements in implementation of laboratory sample management

     

    Qualifications

     

    Experience / Education   

    • Excellent working knowledge of Excel and familiarity with Watson LIMS system for live tracking of sample information (tracking samples using Microsoft Excel)
    • Watson LIMS (Thermo-Fisher Scientific) LIMS preferred
    • Strong organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
    • Can successfully multi-task, supporting several projects simultaneously.
    • Strong communication skills, ability to deliver to specified timelines and provide updates proactively in a fast-paced changing environment.
    • Identify/recognize issues and propose solutions with moderate guidance.
    • Knowledge of clinical sample types and bio-marker assays is desirable with at least 1- 2 years of experience.

     

    Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

    • Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills
    • Need to be able to read, write and understand English
    • Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Watson 7.5

    Physical Requirements:          

    • Must be able to work in an office environment with minimal noise conditions.
    • Must be able to work in Lab setting with exposure to biohazards / Chemicals Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
    • Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels
    • Ability to stand /Sit/walk for long periods of time
    • Ability to crouch, bend, twist, and reach
    • Clarity of Vision
    • Ability to identify and distinguish colors
    • Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions
