Overview

This position is responsible for processing samples for assigned tests in compliance with GMP, ISO, and other standards including test sample log in and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Receives incoming samples and reviews them for integrity to ensure they are sufficient for testing.
  • Transport samples between buildings (approximately 1 mile) using a company vehicle, or occasionally a personal vehicle
  • Disposition samples following testing completion, per client instruction and WuXi AppTec policies, including packing and shipping samples
  • Coordinates time and resources to ensure efficient processing of incoming projects.
  • Review projects to ensure paperwork is complete and accurate.
  • Serves as client point of contact for clarification and questions that arise.
  • Initiates and maintains chain of custody of samples.
  • Works on routine assignments per written procedures, where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.
  • Normally receives minimal instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.
  • Works under close supervision from supervisor or senior personnel.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required.
  • Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals.
  • Performs job-specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, and WuXi AppTec Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • May be required to assist in other departments as needed.
  • May be required to work holidays and weekends.
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Experience / Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Need to be able to clearly speak, read, write and understand English
  • Proficient in Microsoft (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of general research laboratory procedures, aseptic technique, and GLP/GMP regulations
  • Must have and maintain a current driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Specifically, motor vehicle records must not contain:
  • Committing more than one major traffic offense over the past 24 months, including reckless driving, careless driving, a major moving traffic infraction, or three or more speeding tickets; using a motor vehicle in the commission of a felony
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances, or drugs that impair the ability to safely and responsibly operate a motor vehicle or refusing to submit to a test to determine alcohol concentration when driving a motor vehicle
  • Unlawfully transporting a controlled substance;
  • Leaving the scene of an accident unlawfully or failure to report an accident
  • Negligent homicide arising out of the use of a motor vehicle
  • Receiving a felony revocation of driving privileges or felony or misdemeanor driver’s license suspension within the last 24 months
  • Operating a motor vehicle without the owner's authority

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a lab setting with exposure to biohazards and chemicals
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
  • Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels
  • Ability to stand, sit, and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to crouch, bend, twist and reach
  • Ability to lift/push/pull 50 lbs.
  • Clarity of vision
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions and good manual dexterity
  • Ability to work in variable temperatures high to freezing
  • Inside working conditions
