We have an opening for a Laboratory Supervisor.  The supervisor is responsible for all aspects of daily management of the Microbial Solutions laboratory.  Supervises, plans and reviews operations for assigned staff, including responsibility for training, managing and evaluating as well as coordinating, scheduling and assigning work and maintaining facility's standards.


  • Ensures Standard Operating Procedures and controlled documents are correct and updates as needed to ensure compliance
  • Interacts with clients and works closely with management and technicians to ensure laboratory needs are met
  • Ensures GMP regulations are being followed by the laboratory technicians
  • Review and approve time sheets for laboratory technicians
  • Monitor lab technician performance and complete yearly reviews
  • Monitors sample receipt and notifies client to address any discrepancies
  • Supervises, plans and reviews operations for assigned staff, including but not limited to: Training, scheduling, assigning tasks, coordinating and maintaining facility standards
  • Initiates and completes Change requests, Initial Laboratory investigations and Non-Conforming Events as needed
  • Work closely with Technical team in the order of supplies and scheduling for custom protocol driven studies
  • Provide laboratory feedback on custom protocols where applicable
  • Monitor laboratory overtime, expenses and productivity and help in the implementation of process improvements where needed
  • Help with laboratory testing troubleshooting
  • Performs technical review of data
  • Reviews and approves controlled laboratory documents (e.g. QA/QC checklist, Media Hold forms, Equipment Logs)
  • Addresses laboratory audit and safety findings
  • Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals


Experience / Education   

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a biological science or relevant experience
  • 3-5 years of relevant industry experience
  • Previous supervisory experience or leadership experience required

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:           

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required
  • Thorough understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Need to be able to read, write and understand English
  • Ability to effectively communicate
  • Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in Lab setting with exposure to biohazards / chemicals
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
  • Ability to stand / sit / walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 3-5 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to crouch, bend, twist, and reach
  • Clarity of vision; ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions
  • Perform primarily sedentary work
